[ He's thankful that she doesn't pry. Because how can he explain that he still hasn't gotten over his fear of conjuring ghosts that he's been trying to master since he was eight years old? That he still gets sick to his stomach in small spaces, that he panics when he's shoved in a small space?
His hands grasp tightly to his sleep shirt, and he fidgets as he looks to the stairs. ]
[ To be fair, Charlie wouldn't be able to get over the ability to conjure ghosts and it'd probably fuck her up about as much as it messed Klaus up. She can't fault him for any of his fears or phobias. His way of dealing has her concerned, but what is family for if not for that kind of love and concern? ]
Good. Let me grab my hoodie.
[ She disappears into her room, stepping over the loose board and grabbing the black and blue hoodie from the back of her door before stepping out again. ]
[ He's got spirits in his head and they won't go. Not unless he numbs them with drugs and liquor. Hell, he's even tried sneaking some of Vanya's pills, since they help with her nerves, and he always wants to feel numb.
Numbness means not having ghosts clawing out of the darkness. It means no sudden connections to people. It means no conjuring, no channeling spirits into his own body, letting them use him as a mouth piece.
It means he can, for just a moment, pretend he is ordinary. ]

[ And Charlie knows this because she is always some degree of hungry. The ability to create and control fire comes with a metabolism that burns just as fast and Charlie kinda loves it. She can eat whatever and stay a skinny thing. It certainly makes going out to eat fun and if you want somewhere unusual? She probably knows it. ]
I was at Griddy’s earlier. Agnes wasn’t there. She has off for a couple days, so it’s just not worth going in without her.
[ To Charlie, Agnes was almost a second mother or that super cool aunt who won’t say no if she wants a second donut. ]
It’s nice out. We can walk. It won’t take more than ten minutes to get to pizza.
